Stephanie Zacharek, VILLAGE VOICE

One of the most important miracles of our earth’s nature is highly endangered. The Honeybee. The most assiduous of all animals, which reliably flies from flower to flower, is slowly disappearing. It is a mysterious deceasing, which is observed with concern in the whole world. A life without the bee is unimaginable. It is the biggest provider to the humen.
A lot is demanded of the bee today: the worldwide demand for Nature products is resting on its fragile wings. Between pesticides, antibiotics, monocultures and the transport from plantation to plantation the queens and their workers seem to loose their powers. MORE THAN HONEY takes us into the fascinating universe of the bee. Director Markus Imhoof follows its fate, from the own little Family-apiary up to the industrialized honeyfarms and apiarists. With spectacular shots, he hereby opens the view on a world beyond blossom and honey, which one will not forget any time soon...
