For more than 100 years paragraph 175 was applied
to persecute homosexuals in Germany. Under Fascist
rule, persecution turned into the annihilation of
tens of thousands of gay men in the concentration
camps. Still, at the end of the war, the new democratic
government refused to repeal paragraph 175.
