Berlin, 1978. Nelly Senff and her son Aleksej leave
East Germany for West Berlin. But instead of the
freedom they had wished for, they find themselves
in a small, fenced in world: the emergency reception
centre Berlin Marienfelde, hotspot between the two
opposing systems. Here, Nelly fights for her dignity
as she is yet again scrutinised by the authorities,
this time by the Western secret service that is particularly
interested in the misterious death of her
husband in the USSR.
