"Berlin 1933 - Tagebuch einer Großstatdt" tells the story of how the vibrant metropolis of Berlin became the capital of the Third Reich over the period from January 1 to December 31, 1933. The story is told from the perspective of contemporaries. The film is based on the diaries, letters, reports and writings they left behind. They were written in the most diverse milieus: citizens and workers, politicians and journalists, refugees and prisoners, Germans, French and English. They were written or recorded in Berlin, Paris, Moscow or London, in ministries, villas, backyards, prisons, embassies, editorial offices or on the run. Together with archive films, photos, pictures, posters and radio recordings, a multi-perspective view of the year that gave Europe's history a fateful turn is created.
